Geordie Brookman is an award winning director of theatre, musicals, festivals, and events. He was the Artistic Director of the State Theatre Company South Australia from 2012 - 2019. His productions have played throughout Australia, the UK, and Asia and have been included in the Adelaide Festival, MONA FOMA, Midsumma Festival, Daeugu International Musicals Festival, and The Adelaide Cabaret Festival. His premiere staging of Andrew Bovell’s Things I Know To Be True, co-directed with Scott Graham and produced for Frantic Assembly and the Lyric Hammersmith, enjoyed two acclaimed UK tours from 2016 to 2018. Geordie directed the Acting Muscle Ensemble’s inaugural workshop presentation of Zayd Dohrn’s Want.

Directing credits at the State Theatre Company South Australia include Animal Farm, Sense and Sensibility, Macbeth, A Doll’s House, Betrayal, The Importance of Being Earnest, Little Bird, The Seagull, Hedda Gabler, Speaking in Tongues, Ghosts, and The Dumb Waiter. Other directing credits include Spring Awakening: The Musical (Sydney Theatre Company), Toy Symphony (Queensland Theatre Company), Knives In Hens (Malthouse Theatre), Metro Street (Arts Asia Pacific, Power Arts, Daegu International Musicals Festival), and The Laramie Project (Adelaide College of the Arts), among many others. His productions have won and received nominations for Helpmann, Greenroom, Sydney Critics Circle, Adelaide Critics Circle, and Curtain Call awards.

Geordie has also worked as a producer, dramaturg, teacher, event director and curator for organisations including the Adelaide Festival, The National Play Festival, University of Wollongong, Australian Theatre for Young People, Australian Fashion Week, and Queensland Theatre Company.
